According to a recent report by the Sun, Manchester United have a great chance to secure the signature of Inter Milan wide man Ivan Perisic next summer as the Serie A club looks to cash in on their prized asset in order to fund a move for Real Madrid’s Luka Modric.
The Sun also states that the Croatian international has been linked with a switch to Old Trafford in the recent past and in an interview back in November last year, Perisic revealed his desire to play in England and said, “I have always said that [playing in the Premier League] is my dream. In football everything is possible, we will see in the future. Now, I’m focusing on Inter.”
The 2018 FIFA World Cup finalist’s recent words would be quite encouraging for the Red Devils if they are still planning to lure the Inter star to the red half of Manchester at the end of this season.
Perisic has enjoyed a successful spell at the San Siro since making a move to Milan from VFL Wolfsburg in the summer of 2015. The 29-year-old has already put in some eye-catching displays for the Nerazzurri but is yet to hit top form as evidenced by his record this season.
Perisic has featured in 23 matches for Inter this term, scoring three times while creating two assists across all competitions. At 29, the next move could be the Croatian winger’s last big move of his career. So he needs to take his time and choose his next destination wisely as there would be a lot of competition for places at the Theatre of Dreams which could mean that he might not play regularly unless he can prove his worth on the pitch.
The addition of someone of Perisic’s experience and quality will undoubtedly bolster United’s attacking options at Old Trafford. Ole Gunnar Solskjær has a whole host of talented wingers in his squad such as Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford, Alexis Sanchez and Anthony Martial but none of them has managed to find consistency in a Man United shirt this season. Hence, it makes a lot of sense for the Red Devils to opt for a proven talent who has experienced playing football at the highest level for a sustained period of time.
Perisic will also add a lot of goals and assists from the wide areas if he is allowed to seal a move to Man United at the end of this campaign. So it might just be a win-win transfer for all parties.
