West Ham United entered the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 2-0 win over Birmingham City in their third round clash at the London Stadium. Marko Arnautovic kept his scoring form intact with the first goal of the match. Substitute Andy Carroll sealed the fate of the game as he scored the second goal in stoppage time.
Here is how the West Ham United players are rated from their win against Birmingham City.
Adrian: 6
Had a quiet match as most of the action took place on the other end of the pitch.
Michail Antonio: 6
Did well to fill in for Pablo Zabaleta as he kept the pressure on the opposition defence with his darting runs down the flank.
Issa Diop: 7
His tackles and interceptions were good enough to keep the opposition attackers at bay.
Angelo Ogbonna: 6
A better performance from the Italian than his last two outings in the Premier League as he partnered Diop well to keep his side out of harm’s way.
Arthur Masuaku: 6
Dished out a composed performance in the backline as he replaced Aaron Cresswell in the starting lineup. Lacked a bit of composure in the later stages of the match though.
Declan Rice: 7
Once again a solid performance as he kept winning the ball in the midfield and initiated the attack on a number of occasions.
Grady Diangana: 6
Deceived the Birmingham defenders on a few occasions but lacked the finishing.
Pedro Obiang: 6
Controlled the ball well but lacked the accuracy in his passing.
Samir Nasri: 7
A decent comeback for the midfield ace as he put pressure on the opposition with his classy footwork and shot-making. Can prove to be a good signing for the Hammers as the season progresses.
Xande Silva: 6
A decent outing for the Portuguese youngster as he tried his best to get into the danger area as often as possible. Lacked the finishing though.
Marko Arnautovic: 7
He stayed on the pitch for 20 odd minutes but showed how valuable a player he is for the Hammers. Opened the scoring in only the second minute of the match to put his side in front. Had to be forced off the pitch with an apparent back spasm. Seemed to be arguing with Pellegrini on his way out but it was a wise decision from the Chilean as he needs his talisman to be fit for the rest of the season.
Substitutes
Andy Carroll: 7
Kept the pressure on the Birmingham players with his physicality and scored the all-important second goal in the dying minutes of the match. Picked up a knock towards the end of the game.
Robert Snodgrass: 6
Did well for his short stint on the pitch as he replaced Nasri.
Felipe Anderson: NA
Played too little to warrant a rating.
