Tottenham Hotspur will travel to Prenton Park to take on Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup. Mauricio Pochettino should be desperate to do well in the competition after failing to win a major trophy at Spurs so far. It is expected that the Argentine manager will make a lot of changes to his side for this clash against their League Two opponents.
Spurs will lineup in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Fernando Llorente likely to lead the line for the away side.
4-2-3-1 Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup To Face Tranmere Rovers
Defence
Paulo Gazzaniga will line up in goal as part of the Tottenham first-team as Pochettino should hand Hugo Lloris a well-deserved rest for this FA Cup clash against Tranmere. The Argentine goalie has conceded 5 goals in 6 matches so far this season and has just two clean sheets to his name. So this upcoming cup game could be a great opportunity for him to improve on that record.
The Tottenham defence will include the likes of Davinson Sanchez and Juan Foyth in central defence. Ben Davies should get the nod to start at left-back while Kyle Walker-Peters would look to put in another impressive display on the other side as the right-back.
Spurs are in dire need of some silverware this season, and the FA Cup could prove to be the only realistic chance for them to achieve that feat. Hence, Pochettino is expected to name a strong defence even though they are playing a side struggling in League Two right now.
Midfield
Both Harry Winks and Oliver Skipp have caught the eye with their performances at the middle of the pitch this campaign so they will be expected to establish Tottenham’s dominance in midfield. The trio of Georges-Kévin N’Koudou, Dele Alli and Moussa Sissoko could be asked to play ahead of them as they look to strike up a good understanding amongst each other in the Tranmere half.
Both Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura could be available on the bench and might come on to play a part in the game if required.
Attack
It is very likely that Pochettino will give Harry Kane a rest this weekend so Fernando Llorente might start in his place for Spurs up top. The Spaniard has often featured in the cup competitions this season, so it is likely to continue with Llorente looking to add more goals to his game after finding the back of the net just once against West Ham United in the League Cup this term.
