According to a recent report by the Express, Paddy Power has slashed the odds on Liverpool sealing a move for Nabil Fekir from Olympique Lyonnais during this January transfer window. The French attacker was previously linked with a move to Merseyside last summer, but the Reds failed to complete the transfer back then. However, the same report is now claiming that one of the United Kingdom bookmakers, Paddy Power has cut their odds significantly from 18/1 to 5/1 on Jurgen Klopp’s side completing a switch for the Ligue 1 sensation this month.
In a recent interview with the Express, a Paddy Power spokesperson said, “It looks like Liverpool want to add another forward to their devastating attack, and push towards that illusive league title.
“For the player, he’ll be joining a team top of the league, playing great football, and who get regular hugs from their boss. The lucky Fekir.”
Fekir has been enjoying a rich vein of form and has already put in some eye-catching performances for Lyon during the course of this campaign. The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has featured in 17 matches for the French outfit this term, scoring seven goals while creating four assists in all competitions. He has also earned 20 international caps for the French national side and has two goals to his name for his country so far.
Fekir is quite versatile and primarily operates in the number 10 position but is also capable of playing on the right flank or as a secondary striker up top. The French sensation is blessed with terrific pace and is a very useful dribbler with the ball at his feet. He has also developed a habit of scoring and creating important goals from both inside and outside the opposition box which makes him such a valuable asset for Lyon.
Liverpool would do well to secure a move for Fekir this month as he could give the Reds an edge in the race for the Premier League title. Klopp’s team have sometimes lacked creativity in midfield during this campaign which they could potentially address by bringing in someone as inventive as Fekir in January.
However, the French forward has still not proven his worth outside France which makes it a risky move for Liverpool. Despite that, it might be a gamble worth pursuing especially due to Fekir’s excellent run of form and incredible versatility.
