According to a recent report by Sportmediaset, Juventus forward Gonzalo Higuain, who is currently on loan at AC Milan, is eager to make a switch to Chelsea in order to reunite with his former boss Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge. The same report has also claimed that the Turin-based team has granted Higuain permission to go ahead with the deal with AC Milan also willing to cut his loan spell short after the Argentine striker failed to live up to the high expectations surrounding his arrival at the San Siro.
It was previously claimed by the Sun that the Pensioners were in talks with Milan over a potential swap deal involving the Argentine international and Alvaro Morata. So if the recent reports are accurate about Higuain’s desire to move to Stamford Bridge, then Sarri should consider making a move for him soon as he could be a consistent goal-scorer at West London with elite players such as Eden Hazard, Pedro, and Willian operating around him.
Higuain has featured in 19 matches for AC Milan this term, scoring seven goals while grabbing three assists in all competitions. He has also earned 75 international caps for the Argentine national team and has 31 goals to his name for his country.
At 31, the South American sensation still has a few years left in him to play at a high level which the Pensioners could benefit from over the new few years if they manage to recruit him in the near future. Higuain is still very quick and is an accomplished finisher in front of goal which is exactly what Sarri’s team is crying out for at the moment.
The addition of Higuain will undoubtedly bolster Sarri’s attacking options significantly at Stamford Bridge. Moreover, he will be a significant upgrade over both Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud who have both flattered to deceive with their performances this season. The lack of goals between the duo have left Chelsea’s title hopes in tatters, and now they find themselves in a real battle with Arsenal for a place in the top 4 at the end of this campaign.
