According to the reports from the Daily Mail, Leeds United are interested in a move for Hull City winger Jarrod Bowen next month. The 22-year-old is one of the mainstays of the Tigers outfit in the attacking third, and he has developed himself as a valuable and dependable player for Nigel Adkins.
It is believed that the Whites might have to shell out £6.5m to land the winger, but United are keen to get the asking price down. Last season, Bowen managed 15 goals and three assists in all competitions and this season again, he has shown his worth down the right flank by scoring 8 and providing three assists.
Leeds United might be flying high in the Championship as they currently top the table, but quite a few departments in their squad are razor thin at the moment. Bowen for sure can add the firepower to the lineup, and he can be a valuable addition to Bielsa’s lineup.
Ever since the departure of Samuel Saiz, Marcelo Bielsa had to use Pablo Hernandez in central areas and as a result, the right wing spot is being occupied by either Ezgjan Alioski or Jack Harrison. Both of them have been below par in their performances, and we think that Bowen can be a decent upgrade over them. Not to forget that Harrison is just on a season-long loan, and would depart from Elland Road at the end of the season.
We believe that in a few years, the 22-year-old has the pedigree to become a Premier League level player and there won’t be shortage of offers for him. United should be smart and hopefully they can pull off this business in January and Bowen can serve the club for years to come.
His ability to finish off moves also allows him to play as a secondary striker when required and his pace and movement are often tough for the opposition defenders to handle. The winger has his contract until 2020 at the KCOM stadium, but a move to Leeds United should excite the English winger as they are well placed to move to the Premier League by next season.
However, there are also contradicting news emerging from the Hull Daily Mail at the moment as those reports suggest that Leeds United are not interested in a January move for Bowen.
It remains to be seen what transpires in the next month or so for the player, but from a Leeds’ point of view, this is a business which they should look to pull off as Bowen can be an influential player at the West Yorkshire club for the next few years.
