Rangers further dropped points as Hibernian FC thwarted them again this time at Ibrox. The game ended 1-1 and after Celtic’s win today against Aberdeen, Rangers must take three points against the Hoops when they face off this weekend to keep the title race alive.
The Gers got a luck breakthrough in the first half as the ball fell kindly for Alfredo Morelos after some good work by Ryan Jack. The Colombian scored and Rangers took the lead, but they were not able to kill the game. Just when they thought that they would see out the match, Darren McGregor scored from a thumping header in the 86th minute. The Gers were just not good enough on the day to ensure the three points and one can say the Hibs would be satisfied with the result.
Here is how the Bears fared in their frustrating draw at Ibrox.
Allan McGregor 5
Wasn’t stretched much and didn’t have any major saves to make for most of the game. Would be disappointed for letting a late goal go in as he got a good hand on to it.
James Tavernier 5
As usual, provided a lot of attacking outlet while going forward. But lacked quality most of the times. Was caught out defensively on a few instances as well.
Connor Goldson 6
Had some nervy moments in the game but was assured in the air. Came down with an injury around the hour mark.
Joe Worrall 5.5
Made some crucial interceptions in the second half and did a decent job overall. However, continues to be shoddy on the ball. Could be blamed for ball watching for the goal his side conceded.
Andy Halliday 7
Played as a makeshift left back and again proved his value in that position. Pressed well and did a decent job overall.
Ross McCrorie 7.5
Brilliant in the deeper role in midfield whether it was shielding the back four or picking out a pass from deep areas. Should be a regular starter from now.
Ryan Jack 7
Worked hard and played a part in the goal as he pressed the Hibs defender. Looked assured on the ball and took some good shots from long range.
Lassana Coulibaly 5
Played in an advanced role but is definitely not a good fit for him. His movement was decent but didn’t have the composure to pick out the right pass or finish off a move. Missed a glorious chance in the second half.
Daniel Candeias 5.5
Workrate wise the Portuguese was once again brilliant. However, Gerrard would want more quality from him in the attacking third.
Glenn Middleton 5.5
Tracked back well throughout the game and worked hard. Lacked the cutting edge in the attacking third though.
Alfredo Morelos 6
Cut a frustrating figure throughout the game as he didn’t get any major service to feed on. Got a lucky breakthrough and finished well for the goal.
Substitutes
Nikola Katic 5
Gerrard had to make a forced change and Katic did well for the most parts in his cameo at the back. However, like Worrall, was caught ball watching for the goal.
