Celtic have managed to get their top spot back as they went past Motherwell and Rangers were held to a draw by Hibernian. The Hoops though should continue the good work and try to create more of a gap at the top of the table. Next, they take on league strugglers Dundee at home and Rodgers’ men would be expected to romp home on the day.
The Dee were thumped by Aberdeen 5-1 in the last game, and their task is going to be further cut out against the reigning champions at Celtic Park.
Team News
More than the opponent, Rodgers would be worried about the injury situation at the club at the moment. Ryan Christie and Dedryck Boyata are still some time away from returning. Leigh Griffiths has decided to take some time off football, and Odsonne Edouard’s injury in the last game against Motherwell was the worst thing that could have happened to Rodgers.
Daniel Arzani and Eboue Kouassi are out for the season. Mikael Lustig is likely to be assessed before the game after he suffered a concussion in the Europa League tie against RB Salzburg.
Celtic Predicted Lineup vs Dundee
Formation (4-2-3-1)
Defence
Craig Gordon is a nailed on starter in goal for the Hoops. Kristoffer Ajer could be back in the centre back role for this game. He is likely to be partnered by Leicester City loanee Filip Benkovic. 20-year-old Anthony Ralston impressed in the previous game, and he is expected to play in the right-back role once again. Emilio Izaguirre should start in the left back position as Kieran Tierney is likely to be rested because of his recurring hip problem.
Midfield
Olivier Ntcham and Scott Brown are expected to continue in their central midfield role. The captain would start in a more conservative role whereas Ntcham is likely to make charging runs further up the pitch.
The attacking outlet from the midfield should be provided by Callum McGregor who is going to start in the no. 10 role. James Forrest should start from the right flank, and Lewis Morgan might be given the go to start from the left ahead of Scott Sinclair.
Attack
Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard, are both set to miss this tie and Rodgers would hope that Edouard’s injury isn’t too serious as games are set to come thick and fast in this festive period. Michael Johnston did well after coming off the bench, and he is expected to lead the line in this tie.
