Manchester United will travel to Anfield amidst murmurs that it could be the toughest trip to play in front of the Kop for the Red Devils in a long time. In this historic fixture, Liverpool have come off worse till date but Klopp looks like he will try his best to even things out as much as possible during his time in England.
Liverpool will miss their talismanic skipper Gerrard with the former Red scoring more goals (8) in this Premier League fixture than Wayne Rooney (6 – level with Robbie Fowler).
But Manchester United will look into their house first and foremost and they have to decide whether to give their under-fire captain Wayne Rooney a place in the starting XI or not. Rooney has been consistently off colour for both his club and country but his big match pedigree, especially against a team like Liverpool, might be considered before a decision is taken by Jose before the match.
Manchester United are currently in the 6th position with 13 points from 7 games so far. But Mourinho will be desperate for his team to enter the top 4 as soon as possible before the competition intensifies above them. An enterprising start to the campaign followed by a minor blip sees them in their current position and Jose will choose a team he believes can complete the job at Anfield on Monday.
T4O’s PREDICTED MANCHESTER UNITED LINE-UP VS LIVERPOOL (4-2-3-1)
DEFENCE
David De Gea will be in goal and his big match pedigree will be called into action, but the backline always feels a tad reassured with the knowledge of De Gea guarding the posts. Antonio Valencia will be at right-back with Jose still averse to giving Darmian a look-in. Eric Bailly is likely to be a centre-back with his partner being Chris Smalling.
The duo look like being the 1st choice over the course of the season and will need to step up in these big games. Mourinho has a dilemma on his hands regarding the left-back spot as Shaw’s replacement Blind has covered more than satisfactorily for the team. Mane’s pace will be a factor but Blind looks a better bet as of now.
MIDFIELD
Mourinho will most likely opt for a double pivot of Pogba and Herrera with the agile attacking contingent seemingly too nimble for Fellaini to contend with. Wayne Rooney might get a vote of confidence keeping the fixture in mind and he will line up in the No.10 role.
ATTACK
Mata looks the likeliest to be on the right–flank with Rashford on the other side. Alternatively, Mourinho can start with Martial and bring Rashford on later. Zlatan Ibrahimović will lead the line.
