Manchester City will play hosts to Everton at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League following their shock 2-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea last weekend. Pep Guardiola would hope that his players won’t get complacent this weekend and can come away with maximum points from this contest against the Toffees.
The Citizens might line up in a familiar 4-3-3 formation but will be without the services of David Silva and Sergio Aguero for this match.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face Everton
Defence
Barring any late knocks, Ederson should feature in goal for the Citizens this weekend while Arijanet Muric would play back-up on Guardiola’s bench.
The home team could line up with Aymeric Laporte and John Stones in central defence as they have struck up a brilliant partnership at the heart of the City defence. Although Stones is a significant doubt for this contest, yet there is a chance that he would be fit in time to line up against the Toffees.
Fabian Delph will be expected to fill in as a makeshift left-back while Kyle Walker would look to use his pace to cause problems for the Everton defenders down the right flank.
The Man City back four have been in terrific form this season after conceding just nine goals in 16 league matches so far. However, it won’t be easy for them to cope with the threat of Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson who are both in a rich vein of form at the moment for the Toffees.
Midfield
The midfield trio of Fernandinho, Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva could feature at the centre of the park as they look to dominate possession and create opportunities for the City forwards in the opposition half.
David Silva won’t be available for this encounter due to injury so the Citizens might need to be more creative in midfield to cope with the Spaniard’s absence.
Attack
The Citizens front three would consist of Gabriel Jesus leading the lines for the Blues of Manchester with Raheem Sterling looking to cause havoc in the final third. Leroy Sane has been in excellent form for City, and he is expected to get the nod ahead of Riyad Mahrez on Saturday.
The German will look to use his pace and trickery down the wide areas to beat the Toffees defenders and cause a lot of headaches for them inside the Everton penalty box.
