Tottenham Hotspur will entertain Burnley at Wembley Stadium on Saturday afternoon looking to return to winning ways after they managed to claim a well-deserved draw against Barcelona on Tuesday. Mauricio Pochettino will expect his players to beat the Clarets comfortably in front of their home supporters but their midweek exertions could make things tricky against Sean Dyche’s men.
Spurs are expected to line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Pochettino expected to make a few changes to his side for this vital league encounter.
4-2-3-1 Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup To Face Burnley
Defence
Hugo Lloris will start in goal for Pochettino’s side after managing to restrict Barcelona to just one goal at the Nou Camp on Tuesday night. The French keeper is slowly returning to form and would hope to keep a clean sheet against the Clarets on Saturday.
Both Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen will operate in central defence as they look to keep the Burnley attackers at bay this weekend.
Serge Aurier is a significant doubt for this clash but is expected to recover in time to start at right-back in the absence of the injured, Kieran Trippier. Ben Davies might get the nod to start ahead of Danny Rose, who was heavily involved in midweek.
Midfield
Pochettino might opt for a midfield combination of Eric Dier and Moussa Sissoko who will look to do the dirty defensive work in midfield. The attacking trio of Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Heung-min Son could be unleashed ahead of them as they aim to link up with each other and cause a lot of problems for the Clarets defenders.
Both Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura could be available on the bench and might come on during the match if required.
Attack
Harry Kane failed to find the back of the net versus Barca, so this home game against Burnley could mark as an ideal opportunity for him to return to goal-scoring ways for Spurs. The England international has scored nine goals in 16 league matches so far this season, so it’s high time he made some ground in the race to be the top Premier League goal-getter at the end of this campaign.
