Everton were left disappointed in their last match at Goodison Park as the visitors, Watford almost got the better of them and put two past Jordan Pickford to cancel out Richarlison’s opener in the first half. However, a well-taken free kick from Lucas Digne restored a point for the Toffees as Marco Silva’s men ended a tough match in their 16th encounter of the Premier League season.
The Merseyside club are set to face another stern challenge in the form of Manchester City in their next match as they set their eye on a return to the sixth position in the league table. The Citizens faced their first defeat of the season in the Premier League at the hands of Chelsea last weekend, and Pep’s men would be looking for redemption, making the scenario even more difficult for the Toffees.
Team News
Everton have a full squad at their disposal, except for midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, who is still recovering from an injury.
Goalkeeper
Jordan Pickford will start in the goal once again for the Toffees. He did not have the best of outings against Watford and would hope to have a better game against the might of the Manchester City attacking lineup.
Defence
The likes of Yerry Mina and Michael Keane will have to be at their very best to keep the Citizens at bay throughout the match. Lucas Digne will start on the left-hand side of the backline while captain Seamus Coleman will put in his shift from the right.
Midfield
Idrissa Gana Gueye and Andre Gomes have been in good form so far this season, and it will be an arduous task for them to vie for the ball against the likes of Ilkay Gundogan, Riyad Mahrez and Fernandinho in the next fixture. Gylfi Sigurdsson will play ahead of the duo in the attacking midfielder position while Theo Walcott would start on the right side of the midfield with Bernard beginning on the left.
Attack
Richarlison, who notched up his eighth goal of the season so far against his former club Watford in the last match, will lead the line for the Toffees once again against the Citizens.
Predicted Formation: 4-2-3-1
