Former Manchester United defender Gary Pallister wants Wayne Rooney to start against Liverpool. United Travel to Liverpool on Monday for a very important encounter.
Rooney was dropped for the last two games after a horrible performance against Watford that United lost 3-1. The forward was also on the bench for England’s World Cup Qualifier against Slovenia.
Louis Van Gaal had been using Rooney in a deep midfield role and for that, the striker has been criticised due to his subdued performances. Pallister thinks that Rooney is a big match player and could be a vital player for United against Liverpool. “Unleash the beast. If Jose feels Wayne is ready to come back in for the game, he will be desperate to prove people wrong.”
“He has handled it really, really well in the last few weeks and especially in his press conference alongside Gareth [Southgate].”
“I think that shows great maturity. I think if that had happened to Wayne when he was 23/24 it would have been a different scenario.” He added.
