Arsenal will travel to Old Trafford to clash heads with Manchester United on Wednesday night after securing an emphatic 4-2 win against Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby last weekend. The Gunners are in fine form and would look to keep their remarkable unbeaten run intact when they lace up to take on the Red Devils in midweek.
There is no doubt about the fact that Unai Emery’s side are currently playing the better football so they should be slight favourites going into this encounter at the red half of Manchester. Arsenal might line up in a 3-4-1-2 formation with both Alexandre Lacazette and Aaron Ramsey set to be a part of Emery’s starting XI this week.
3-4-1-2 Arsenal Predicted Lineup To Face Manchester United
Defence
Bernd Leno should continue as Emery’s first-choice goalkeeper as Petr Cech has to settle for a place on the Gunners bench. The trio of Shkodran Mustafi, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Rob Holding will make up the three-men Arsenal defence.
Emery’s defenders conceded two goals against Spurs last weekend so they would look to improve on that display by putting in a much better performance at the Theatre of Dreams in midweek.
Midfield
The duo of Lucas Torreira and Granit Xhaka have worked well for the Gunners in recent weeks, but the Swiss international is suspended for this encounter and would be replaced by Matteo Guendouzi at the middle of the park. Hector Bellerin will be deployed on the right flank as he looks to use his pace to cause problems for Man United’s Ashley Young. Sead Kolasinac put in a brilliant display against Spurs on Sunday, so he is likely to keep his place on the left side of the Arsenal midfield.
Aaron Ramsey might play in the number 10 position as he looks to link up play between the Gunners midfield and the front players. Mesut Ozil has a back spasm and as such should miss out again.
Forward
Emery might opt for the deadly combination of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette up top. The Gabon centre-forward is currently the Premier League’s top scorer while the Frenchman has also chipped in with some crucial goals for the North London giants in recent weeks.
Both strikers will fancy their chances against United’s defence which has been leaking goals at the back throughout this campaign.
