Chelsea will face off against Wolves at the Molineaux Stadium on Wednesday night as they look to continue their recent good form in all competitions. The Pensioners have made a fantastic start to this Premier League campaign with their only blemish coming against Spurs last month. However, Maurizio Sarri should be highly confident about his team’s chances of securing maximum points for this upcoming contest at the West Midlands.
It is expected that the Italian manager will opt for a 4-3-3 formation and might hand Ruben Loftus-Cheek a rare start in the Chelsea midfield.
4-3-3 Chelsea Predicted Lineup To Face Wolves
Defence
Kepa Arrizabalaga will keep his place in goal for the Blues of London once again on Wednesday night as he prepares to put on another impressive showing in a Chelsea shirt. The Spanish shot-stopper has kept four clean sheets in his past five outings for the Pensioners across all competitions so he would go into this match full of confidence.
The centre-half pair of David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger will line up ahead of Kepa at the heart of Maurizio Sarri’s defence following a string of commanding displays from them over the past few weeks.
Cesar Azpilicueta will likely feature as the right-back while Marcos Alonso would try to link up with Hazard on the other flank. However, it won’t be a comfortable night out for the Chelsea backline as they will come up against one of the Premier League’s most impressive forwards this season in Raul Jimenez.
Midfield
Sarri might choose to go for the midfield trio of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Jorginho and N’Golo Kante who are all fit to start against Wolves in midweek. Mateo Kovacic might be dropped to the bench following his lacklustre display versus Fulham last weekend. Loftus-Cheek could be the one to replace him in Sarri’s starting XI after he came off the bench to score at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
The Pensioners’ midfield three will be up against an all-Portuguese duo of Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho so they would need to assert their dominance in possession and dictate play at the middle of the park by keeping the ball away from the Wolves midfielders as much as possible.
Attack
Eden Hazard has looked far from his best after his recent return from injury, but he would still be a significant threat for the West Midlands outfit this week. The Belgian international needs to step up and make the difference against Nuno Espirito Santo’s men as he should look to make the support from Alvaro Morata and Willian count.
Pedro will also be in line to start but Sarri might hand him a breather on the bench so that he can come on and make an impact in the second half if needed.
