Tottenham Hotspur will entertain Inter Milan at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday night knowing that only a result would suffice if they are to keep their qualification hopes alive. Spurs are in dire need of maximum points from this contest as they are currently trailing their Italian opponents by three points in the UEFA Champions League Group B standings.
Mauricio Pochettino is expected to opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and might name an unchanged lineup for this crucial European clash in London.
4-2-3-1 Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup To Face Inter Milan
Defence
Hugo Lloris will lace up for Spurs to start in goal on Wednesday night despite making some costly errors in the Champions League this season. The Tottenham defence would be comprised of Toby Alderweireld and Juan Foyth who would operate as the centre-halves with both Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen currently out injured.
Kieran Trippier will also miss out this week due to injury which would see Serge Aurier start at right-back. Ben Davies would look to put on another strong display down the left side of the Tottenham backline.
Pochettino’s defenders have conceded just two goals in their past three outings across all competitions which clearly shows that they are improving defensively even with a makeshift backline. Spurs need to have a good game at the back if they are to stop Mauro Icardi from scoring at Wembley in midweek.
Midfield
The Tottenham boss might opt to stick with Moussa Sissoko and Eric Dier in central midfield to add some more solidity to his team against an Inter side which would look to be a threat on the counter. Harry Winks will be available on the bench and could come on during the clash if required.
The talented trio of Heung-min Son, Christian Eriksen, and Dele Alli might be unleashed in the opposition half as they would look to create chances and cause problems for the Inter defence.
Both Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela will add some more firepower for the North London giants from the bench.
Attack
As always, Harry Kane will lead the lines for Spurs as he looks to build on his recent goal against Chelsea by finding the back of the net once again at Wembley. The English centre-forward should be fresh for this European encounter after he got some well-deserved rest during the international break which might help him perform at his best in the coming weeks as fixtures come thick and fast across multiple competitions.
