According to a recent report by Tutto Mercato Web, Everton are interested in securing the services of Gabriel Barbosa on loan from Inter Milan during the January transfer period. It is understood that the Toffees have already enquired about the Brazilian prospect’s availability on loan as they look to bolster their attacking options going into the second half of this campaign.
The 22-year-old is currently enjoying a productive loan spell at his boyhood club Santos and has already put in some match-winning performances for them during this season which has caught the attention of the Everton chiefs.
Barbosa’s Incredible Form This Season
Barbosa has featured in 35 matches in the Brazilian Serie A this term, scoring 18 goals while grabbing one assist. However, he had to endure a difficult time at the San Siro since making a £26m switch from Santos in the summer of 2017. The Brazilian sensation already had a loan spell with Benfica which turned out to be a bust as he only managed to make one appearance for the Portuguese giants.
However, his current loan spell in Brazil would give him confidence going forward as he looks to prove himself at the highest level in European football.
What Will The Brazilian Bring To Goodison Park?
Barbosa has a lot of pace under his belt and is a very capable dribbler with the ball at his feet. The Brazilian forward knows how to find the back of the net on a regular basis and can link up play well in the attacking end of the pitch. However, he lacks the physical strength to make it in the Premier League which should be a cause for concern.
Is Barbosa The Right Choice For The Toffees?
The Merseyside club could potentially bring him in and pair him up with his international compatriot Richarlison up top. Marco Silva is known for his free-flowing, attacking brand of football which would suit Barbosa’s style of play. The potential loan acquisition of the Brazilian forward would undoubtedly bolster Silva’s attacking options at Goodison Park and add more competition for places within the Toffees squad.
Hence, we can conclude that Barbosa will be an ideal option to ease Everton’s attacking woes if Silva can lure him to make a January switch to the blue half of Merseyside.
