Liverpool speedster Sadio Mane has penned a new long-term deal to extend his stay at Anfield. The Merseyside club has announced on their official website that the Senegalese international has signed a new contract with fresh terms and has agreed to commit his long-term future to the Reds.
The 26-year-old expressed his delight afterwards and said, “I am very happy, very happy to extend my time at Liverpool,”
“It is a great day for me and now I am looking forward to everything – to helping the team, to helping the club achieve our dreams and, especially, to win trophies.
“I’ve always said, when I knew I had a chance to come here I didn’t have to think twice. The right club in the right moment and with the right coach as well. I came here and was very happy.
“For me, I have made the best decision in my career.”
The Reds have made a solid start to their Premier League campaign and are still unbeaten in the league having played 12 matches so far with nine wins and three draws to their name. Mane has been at the heart of every good move that Liverpool have created down the left flank. His combination and link-up play with Andrew Robertson on the left wing has been a joy to watch.
Moreover, the Senegalese superstar has also developed a good understanding with Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah during his time at Anfield which has made him an invaluable asset for Jurgen Klopp. Mane has made 16 appearances for the Reds this season, scoring seven goals while grabbing one assist across all competitions.
What Does Mane Add To Klopp’s Team?
The former Southampton star boasts electrifying pace and can beat his marker in a footrace which helps him get to by-line and deliver some telling crosses for his teammates. His speed and power are amongst the best that the Premier League has to offer, but the Senegalese talent can sometimes lack the productivity in the attacking third.
A Good Move For All Parties?
The 26-year-old forward needs to be more consistent with his performances if the Reds are to mount a realistic title challenge to Manchester City this season. Mane’s decision to commit his long-term future at Anfield suggests that Klopp is still building towards a successful spell at Merseyside by retaining some of his star players for the long-run. The Reds winger can also benefit from playing at the highest level which might motivate him to strive for greatness.
Mane has all the makings of a great winger and if he can take his game to the next level, then the Merseyside club might get to witness the best out of the Senegalese international as they look to secure some silverware in the coming years.
