Manchester United will entertain Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Saturday hoping to bounce back from their 3-1 loss at the hands of Manchester City before the international break. The Red Devils need to go on a long and unbeaten run if they are to stand a chance of finishing in the top 4 this season. However, it won’t be an easy task to get a positive result against the Eagles as Hodgson’s side are not afraid to express themselves away from home.
Mourinho is expected to opt for a 4-3-3 formation and might choose to make some changes to his side for this weekend’s clash at the Theatre of Dreams.
For a short while, it seemed as if the Mancunian giants got their mojo back after they won three consecutive games across all competitions with a 2-1 scoreline. However, the loss at Man City hampered their momentum quite a bit.
4-3-3 Manchester United Predicted Lineup To Face Crystal Palace
Defence
Jose Mourinho will call upon the services of David De Gea once again as his first-choice shot-stopper for this match against the Eagles this weekend. Despite failing to keep a clean sheet, the Spanish goalie made some terrific saves to keep United in the contest against the Citizens in the previous gameweek.
The defensive duo of Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof have developed a good understanding in central defence, so they should get the nod to start versus Palace. Ashley Young will fill in as a makeshift left-back because Luke Shaw is suspended for this encounter at Old Trafford. Matteo Darmian might start at right-back as he looks to resurrect his United career after being plagued with injuries in recent times.
Midfield
Mourinho might opt to start with the midfield trio of Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera so that the home side can establish their dominance at the centre of the pitch. It’s high time Pogba steps up and starts delivering on the pitch following his dismal display at the Etihad Stadium earlier this month.
Attack
The Red Devils frontline will consist of Anthony Martial, Alexis Sanchez and Jesse Lingard who will all look to do some damage in the attacking end of the pitch. Martial is in the form of his life after scoring a hatful of goals in recent weeks. Lingard also found the back of the net while on international duty with England last week which will give him some confidence going into this encounter.
Both Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku are significant doubts for this contest and might make the United bench if they can recover in time for this game.
