According to recent reports, Manchester United are prepared to double Lorenzo Pellegrini’s wages to convince the player to make a switch to Old Trafford during the January transfer window. It is believed that the Italian prospect has a €30m release clause in his contract which Roma are trying to void by making him pen a new deal with the club.
However, Jose Mourinho is ready to pounce on this opportunity by offering him a chance to double his current salary. Some sources have also claimed that the United chiefs had a meeting with the player’s agent Giacomo Pocetta in London on Saturday to discuss a potential transfer in January.
The Roma talent has begun this season in outstanding form after making 13 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals while creating five assists. Pellegrini has also earned nine international caps for the Italian national side so far in his career. The 22-year-old is one of the rising stars of the Serie A and is in for a promising career ahead in European football as long as he can improve his game and prove himself at the highest level.
What Will The Italian Midfielder Bring To Old Trafford?
Pellegrini has a lot of pace up his sleeve and is a good dribbler with the ball which makes him a threat from midfield. The Italian prospect can also distribute the ball well and has become an expert in retaining possession at the centre of the park. He works hard for his side both on and off the ball and can unlock any defence with a killer pass.
However, the AS Roma prospect is not the best striker of the ball, so he needs to work on his shooting if he wants to test himself at a top club like Man United.
Will It Be A Wise Move For Man United?
The potential acquisition of Pellegrini would undoubtedly improve Jose Mourinho’s midfield significantly and add some much-needed competition for places so that the likes of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic do not get complacent. The Red Devils are in need of a calm presence at the heart of their midfield and Pellegrini could be the man to fill in that role as long as Mourinho believes in his ability.
