According to recent reports, Arsenal are hoping to seal a big money move for James Rodriguez who is currently playing on loan at Bayern Munich. It is understood that the Gunners boss Unai Emery is plotting a massive €90m offer to land the Colombian international.
The Spanish head coach has made a brilliant start to his managerial career in North London and is now looking to rebuild his squad by bringing in some quality players at the end of this campaign and Rodriguez fits the bill perfectly.
Despite suffering a severe injury recently, Rodriguez can still be considered as one of the most technically gifted players in Europe. The versatile winger has earned a lot of honours during his career which includes winning the UEFA Champions League twice with Real Madrid. The 27-year-old has already put in some match-winning displays at the Allianz Arena during this season which has reportedly caught the eyes of Emery.
However, it won’t be easy for the Gunners to prise him away from the Spanish capital next summer unless they can secure a top 4 finish at the end of this season. Rodriguez has featured in 11 matches for the Bavarian giants this term, scoring three goals while grabbing two assists in all competitions.
What Will Rodriguez Bring To The Emirates Stadium?
The Colombian has a tremendous left foot and loves to cut in from the right flank at every chance that he can get. He is an exceptional dribbler with the ball and has a habit of scoring and setting up goals from wide positions. Rodriguez is vastly experienced at the highest level but needs to develop his upper frame if he wants to stand the test of Premier League football.
The potential addition of Rodriguez would undoubtedly bolster Emery’s attacking options significantly at the Emirates Stadium, so much as that he might just make them realistic title contenders in the coming years. He would be an upgrade over their current midfield options, but the hefty €90m price-tag might be a significant stumbling block for the North London outfit.
Should The Gunners Pay €90m For The Colombian Star?
Having said that, the Gunners need to splash the cash over the next few transfer windows if they are to compete for major trophies in the coming years. Hence, Emery should do everything in his power to lure the Colombian international to England even if it means paying a hefty fee of €90m.
