After the disappointment of the last term, Everton are making good progress this season so far under the tutelage of Marco Silva. The Portuguese manager has brought in a number of new players into the side after he took charge at Goodison Park and is reportedly keen on adding more reinforcements to his team in January.
One player who is on the top of his target list is the Serbian attacking midfielder Andrija Zivkovic. The 22-year-old player is currently plying his trade for the Portuguese side Benfica and has attracted a lot of attention with his stellar performances on the pitch. The player is valued at £20 million or above and can be an outstanding acquisition for the Toffees this winter.
Though primarily an attacking midfielder, the former Partizan Belgrade man can also play on both wings, and his versatility can give Marco Silva the choice of switching his options around. The Serbian ace can be a good backup for both Bernard and Theo Walcott, and it would be worth the investment for the Merseyside club.
Though the Toffees have performed well so far this season, their attack has let them down on a number of occasions. Both Bernard and Theo Walcott, who play regularly on the left and right flank respectively, has looked far from their best. This has put a lot of pressure on Richarlison, who is currently playing out of position, as a striker.
Getting a deal done for a player like Zivkovic would be an astute move for the Toffees as it should increase their squad depth and pose some serious threat up front. This is something that they have lacked so far this season. The likes of Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert Lewin have also not been able to fire this season so far, and it is an ardent necessity for Marco Silva to bring in someone who can give the attack an edge.
The player has, however, not been able to score a single goal this season so far due to the underutilisation of his prowess by the Benfica management and has only made five appearances in the Liga NOS. If the Toffees can land him, it might not be possible for him to walk straight into the starting lineup, but he can come into the side as a backup for the existing forwards.
