Chelsea and Leicester City- the champions from the last couple of seasons will go head to head against each other on Saturday in the opening game of match day eight in the Premier League. Neither of the two sides have been performing well so far this season. After shocking the whole world by going all the way to win the title last time out, Leicester City’s start to the new campaign has been a big letdown.
On the other hand, Antonio Conte’s arrival at Stamford Bridge has been pretty underwhelming despite a solid start.
The two sides already met each other earlier this season that was in the third round of the League Cup. Chelsea came out victorious in the dramatic game thanks to a late brace from Cesc Fabregas. It was a cracker of a game, a goal fest which was evident from a 4-2 scoreline in favour of the Blues.
Leicester City will be looking to take a revenge over Conte’s side as Claudio Ranieri will be desperate to kick-start his side’s Premier League campaign with a win over one of the bigger sides.
Here is the predicted Leicester City lineup Vs Chelsea.
DEFENCE
We expect Kasper Schmeichel to be selected under the bar ahead of German international Ron-Robert Zieler. Claudio Ranieri does not make too many changes to his starting XI unless injuries or suspensions trouble his side. With each of his defenders fit and available for selection, we expect the Italian to opt for his strongest back four.
Danny Simpson will start in the right-back position. The centre-back pairing is expected to be Robert Huth and skipper Wes Morgan. Christian Fuchs will be an automatic choice in the left-back position with his brilliant attacking forays and an exceptional eye for crosses.
MIDFIELD
The summer signing from Nice, Nampalys Mendy, who was expected to fill in the void of N’Golo Kanté who is likely to line up against his former club on Saturday, is finally fit and available for selection after missing almost two months through injury. The Frenchman will be keen to make a strong impact in the game.
Danny Drinkwater is a minor doubt for the game with a groin problem but Leicester City will hope that he makes the starting XI shaking off the injury. Drinkwater will be thrown into the starting XI alongside Mendy if he is cleared fit for the game or else we will see Daniel Amartey getting another start. Riyad Mahrez and Marc Albrighton will be the two wingers.
ATTACK
Jamie Vardy and Islam Slimani will start up front for the Foxes in a two-pronged attack. With Vardy’s pace and Slimani’s aerial ability, Leicester City have enough firepower to trouble the underperforming Chelsea defence.
