Manchester City are flying high and are looking favourites to retain their Premier League title this season as well. Pep Guardiola already has a bunch of consistent performers at his disposal and might look to add some more players to the squad in the January transfer window.
Reportedly, the Manchester City boss is interested in bringing French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele to the Etihad Stadium. The Citizens have been linked with the player for some time now, and as the current reports state, they have been handed a big boost in their pursuit of the player after he refused to rule out a move out of his current club Lyon.
The Citizens are undertaking a futuristic approach and are on the verge of handing young midfield star Phil Foden a new long-term contract after his impressive displays in the last couple of seasons. The signing of Ndombele might be another step forward towards the formation of a strong squad for the future as the Frenchman might come into the side as a long-term replacement for Fernandinho.
As per the reports, the Lyon ace is valued at £70m by his club, which might not be a big ask for Manchester City. However, the fact that the player has played so far only in the Ligue 1 and whether he would be able to fit into the fast-paced style of Premier League football are somethings that Manchester City should consider before splashing the cash.
The Citizens will also have to vie against Tottenham Hotspur, who have also been linked with the player for some time now. The player has already scored twice in the first four games in the Champions League this season and has been highly rated for his physicality and prowess.
With the likes of Fernandinho already aged at 33, a move for the French midfielder looks legitimate for the Citizens as it would give them a long-term solution in the middle of the pitch.
