Various reports have linked Ousmane Dembele with a move to the Premier League with Chelsea as one of the interested parties. However, the latest interview from Dembele’s agent should put all the rumours to rest as he has gone on to confirm that the Barcelona manager loves him and indicated that he isn’t moving anywhere in January.
Barcelona paid £96.5m to secure his services last summer but the former Borussia Dortmund winger has failed to settle at the club, and many of the Catalan fans are also getting impatient because of his poor displays. The Frenchman has given some scintillating displays, but often he has gone off the boil whenever he got a chance to start, and because of that, various rumours were doing the round that the World Cup winner would move away from Spain soon.
However, his agent Moussa Sissoko opened up recently and said,”There is no doubt about his future, at all, Ousmane continues to work, he is in a big club and [Ernesto] Valverde loves him, and he is also in the national team and Deschamps continues to trust him.”
Recently the player had missed a training session due to illness and Barcelona were unhappy because they were not informed about it. The media blew things out of proportion and reports did the round that the Frenchman is too undisciplined.
However, his agent clarified by saying,”He missed the morning training and what the club has blamed us is that he did not warn a little before that a doctor can see his mismanagement at home. He did it a little late. But he was sick, the club confirmed he had a [gastrointestinal illness], he missed the training because of that. And I am surprised that we also make controversy when he is sick.’’
Its good to see the player’s agent coming out and clearing the air about the little miscommunication. Chelsea though would probably have to be content with the likes of Willian and Pedro filling in the right wing spot for the time being. Willian has continuously been linked with Barcelona and the summer signing of Malcom also didn’t suit someone like Dembele who is still trying to make his way into the first team on a regular basis.
Dembele has all the ability to take the Premier League by storm but often his lackadaisical attitude has brought him a lot of criticism. However, as his agent said, he is already at a big club and should do everything in his means to make his name at the Camp Nou.
Chelsea would have had to shell out a tonne load of money to land him and we believe they should try to go through this season by keeping hold of Willian and Pedro. What they really need in January is a striker, especially more so now that Olivier Giroud is being linked with a move to Marseille.
