Chelsea faced off against Everton at Stamford Bridge earlier this evening hoping to continue their unbeaten start to this campaign. The Pensioners began the match on the front foot and dominated most of the possession during the early stages of the contest. However, the Toffees also grew into the game and were a real threat on the counter and created some excellent chances of their own on the day.
Both teams fought hard but couldn’t find the back of the net during the 90 minutes. The match ended 0-0 with both sides sharing the spoils in what turned out to be a heated encounter at West London.
Let’s take a look at how each Chelsea player fared during the contest against the Toffees.
GK: Kepa Arrizabalaga – 7/10
The Spaniard made a few great saves and had a comfortable day out in goal at Stamford Bridge.
RB: César Azpilicueta – 5.5/10
The Chelsea defender failed to make an impact going forward as he lacked the pace to beat Lucas Digne.
CB: Antonio Rüdiger – 6.5/10
He commanded his box well and put in an impressive display at the heart of the Chelsea defence.
CB: David Luiz – 7/10
The Brazilian distributed the ball well and did enough defensively to earn a clean sheet on the night.
LB: Marcos Alonso – 7/10
The Spaniard went close to scoring with some of his clever efforts in the final third. He would be disappointed that he couldn’t influence a win for the home side.
CM: N’Golo Kanté – 5/10
The Frenchman was used as a box to box attacking midfielder, and it simply didn’t work as he is more suited to playing in a defensive role.
CM: Jorginho – 6/10
Not the best day out for the Pensioners midfielder. His passes lacked the sharpness today as he couldn’t create too many chances going forward.
CM: Mateo Kovacic – 7/10
The Croatian international linked up play well in midfield and had one of his better outings in a Chelsea shirt.
RM: Willian – 4.5/10
The Brazilian playmaker squandered an excellent chance to score and was selfish at times in the opposition half.
ST: Álvaro Morata – 5/10
The Spanish centre-forward had a frustrating game today as he failed to be a threat inside the Everton box.
LM: Eden Hazard – 6.5/10
The Belgian had his moments during the game but lacked the cutting edge in the final third.
Substitutes:
CM: Cesc Fabregas – 6/10
The Spanish midfield veteran retained the ball well for the home team.
RM: Pedro – 5/10
He was not able to make an impact during his time on the pitch.
CM: Ross Barkley – 5/10
The English talent hardly had any time to influence the game.
