Celtic’s season seems to be back on track even though they are reeling with injuries at the moment. After the away defeat to RB Leipzig, we mentioned how the next few games could shape their season and Rodgers’ men have come up with all the answers. Since then, Celtic have won all their four games including a crucial win against last season Europa League quarterfinalist Leipzig in the return leg at home, and the Bhoys have scored 15 goals in the process and conceded just one. Next, they will take on Livingston on Sunday at the Almondvale Stadium and Rodgers would be confident of three points and another slip up from Hearts could see them back to where they belong, that is on top of the Premiership table.
Team News
Scott Brown, Eboue Kouassi and Olivier Ntcham have not been involved with the first team for some time now, and they are going to miss out for this away tie. Youssouf Mulumbu is back from his injury and came into the later stages of the game against RB Leipzig. Jozo Simunovic and Leigh Griffiths are also likely to miss out.
Celtic Predicted Lineup Vs Livingston
Formation (4-2-3-1)
Defence
Craig Gordon put in an assured performance against Leipzig last time around, and he should start in goal. Filip Benkovic and Dedryck Boyata will continue their formidable pairing at the back. The two almost look impenetrable, and Livingston might need some divine intervention to go past these defensive powerhouses.
Down the left, the ever dependable Kieran Tierney should start. Mikael Lustig might be captaining the side in the absence of Scott Brown, but he needs to pick his game up if he wants to negotiate a new deal at Park Head after entering the final year of his contract. He should start in the right-back role.
Midfield
Youssuf Mulumbu should be fresh for this tie and he should start in the middle of the park. Ryan Christie has been a revelation of late, and even if Olivier Ntcham comes back from injury, the manager should persist with him in midfield.
The attacking outlet should be provided by the likes of Callum McGregor, Scott Sinclair and James Forrest. The three started the midweek game and put in big shifts, but with injuries in the squad, Rodgers can’t ring in some changes without affecting the dynamism of the side.
Attack
Rodgers would have loved to have someone like Leigh Griffiths lead the line for this game to give his big striker Odsonne Edouard a rest after the Europa League game. But the gaffer doesn’t have that luxury and Edouard should once again lead the line for the Hoops.
