Newcastle United got their first win of the season against Watford which lifted them from the bottom three. Benitez would be looking to carry on this little momentum when they host Bournemouth at St. James’ park. However, the Cherries have had a good start to the Premier League as they currently occupy the sixth spot in the table, so it wouldn’t be easy for the Tyneside club.
Bournemouth might have lost their last game against Manchester United, but the tie could have gone either way. Howe’s men were only beaten by a late goal from Marcus Rashford. Therefore on current form, Newcastle will go in as the slight underdogs in this game.
Team News
Jamaal Lascelles, Jonjo Shelvey and Yoshinori Muto are all going to go through a late fitness test, and it is not yet clear whether they would be ready in time for this game. Florian Lejeune and Jamie Sterry continue to be long-term absentees.
Newcastle United predicted lineup Vs Bournemouth
Formation (4-4-1-1)
Defence
Summer signing Martin Dubravka is going to start in goal for the Magpies. The last win against the Hornets came at a cost as Jamaal Lascelles went out with an injury and as of now, there is no certainty that he would start. Therefore we expect the centre-back pairing of Federico Fernandez and Fabian Schar to start at the back. The left-back spot should be occupied by Paul Dummett and his other fullback partner down the right is going to be DeAndre Yedlin.
Midfield
Jonjo Shelvey is the primary orchestrator in midfield, and his situation is similar to that of Lascelles. So we expect Ki Sung Yueng to start in the middle of the park for the Toons. The industrious Mohamed Diame should partner the South Korean and they are likely to have a busy game as the Cherries often like to build from the middle.
Out on the right, Matt Ritchie is a nailed on starter, and the wideman is also known for his defensive work rate. The left wing spot should be occupied by Brazilian Kenedy and Benitez would hope that he can provide the cutting edge in the final third.
Attack
Ayoze Perez came off the bench and scored the crucial goal against Javi Gracia’s side last time around, and we expect Benitez to prefer him from the start. The Spaniard should play in the shadow striker role behind the big target man. That role is going to be fulfilled by summer signing Salomon Rondon who should lead the line in this crucial home tie.
