Manchester City are currently on a roll in the Premier League as well as the Champions League, and they haven’t lost only any match so far in all competitions. They will be facing Shakhtar Donetsk at the Etihad Stadium next up in the Champions League second leg after they won the first leg by 3-0.
Pep Guardiola has built a formidable side who are going from strength to strength with every passing match. However, it is expected to be a tricky outing for Guardiola’s men in the next game as Shakhtar would look to take all three points as they have failed to win a single match so far in the European competition.
Team News
The injury to Kevin De Bruyne is a big blow for the Citizens. However, it will not stop their manager from fielding a strong enough lineup for the next match. Nicolas Otamendi also has been sidelined with an injury while Ilkay Gundogan will be assessed before the game.
Goalkeeper
Ederson is the cemented starter for Manchester City. He has been in good form since the start of the season, and it will be interesting to see whether he can repeat his performance from the match against Shakhtar where he kept a clean sheet.
Defence
Aymeric Laporte and John Stones will start in the central defensive role. Bernard Mendy will begin in the left back position while Kyle Walker would put in his shift from the right.
Midfield
Fernandinho will start in the defensive midfielder role while David Silva would start in the central midfield. In the absence of De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez will start in his place in the midfield ahead of Bernardo Silva.
Attack
Sergio Aguero will lead the line for the Citizens and would look to add to his tally. Raheem Sterling, who was in sublime form against Southampton in the last Premier League match, will start in the wide attacker role from the right. Leroy Sane, who also had a good outing against the Saints, will put in his shift from the left.
Predicted Formation: 4-3-3
