Real Madrid seems to be getting back to winning ways on a consistent basis after back to back wins in the La Liga and Copa Del Rey. They will now be facing a different challenge in the Champions League as the Galacticos go up against Viktoria Plzen in the second leg at the Doosan Arena.
It has not been a good season by any means for the reigning Champions League winners as they have succumbed to a number of defeats in the domestic as well as European fronts. Their last loss came in the El Clasico against Barcelona where they lost the match by a staggering margin of 5-1. Their manager Julen Lopetegui had to lose his job just after 12 games as the aftermath of the defeat.
However, under their new manager Santiago Solari, Real Madrid have managed to make some sort of a comeback and have won two matches. This would be a boost for the new manager as he goes into the next match.
Team News
Neither of Marcelo, Mariano Diaz, Dani Carvajal or Raphael Varane would be available for the clash against Plzen due to injuries. However, Solari seems to have found the right combination, especially in the defence and it should not be a problem for him to field a relatively strong first eleven.
Goalkeeper
Keylor Navas will start in the goal for the Galacticos despite the good showing from Thibaut Courtois in the last match against Real Valladolid where he kept a clean sheet.
Defence
Alvaro Odriozola will start at the right back position after his good stint in the last two matches. Sergio Reguilón will accompany him in the left back position who also had a decent debut in the La Liga. Captain Sergio Ramos and Nacho Fernandez will guard the heart of the defence for the Galacticos.
Midfield
Toni Kroos will start with Luka Modric in the midfield along with Casemiro, who will play as the defensive midfielder. The trio had a good outing against Valladolid and will look to do the same against Plzen.
Attack
Marco Asensio will start in the wide attacker role on the left-hand side while Karim Benzema would lead the line for Los Blancos. Gareth Bale, who has been facing a lot of criticism due to his lacklustre performances, will look to make up for the lost chances in the right flank.
Predicted Lineup- 4-1-2-3
