There is significant daylight between Tottenham Hotspur and their other major group rivals in the Champions League as the North Londoners have just one point in their kitty as of now. A spot in the Europa League looks imminent but Mauricio Pochettino would still have to pick his team up and give it a fair go when they take on Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven. The Dutch side rescued a late point against Spurs in the earlier tie as they equalised in the 87th minute at the Phillips Stadium.
Pochettino should be aware that anything less than three points in this game would mean curtains for another year in the Champions League. Spurs can take confidence from their league form as they are coming on the back of a good win against Wolves.
Team News: Dele Alli, Danny Rose, Victor Wanyama, Eric Dier and Jan Vertonghen are all ruled out due to various injuries. Hugo Lloris is going to miss out after he was shown a red card in the last tie against the Dutch heavyweights.
Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup VS PSV Eindhoven
Formation (4-2-3-1)
Defence
Lloris’ suspension means that his deputy Michel Vorm would have to fill in his place in the starting eleven. Pochettino would hope that the Dutchman can be safe and secure under the bar like his captain. With Jan Vertonghen out, there is little room to manoeuvre for the centre back roles, and we expect Davinson Sanchez and Toby Alderweireld to start together at the back. Danny Rose when available was the prefered choice over Ben Davies but the Welshman is going to start as his English team-mate is still recovering from an injury. Kieran Trippier should start down the right to complete a very solid back four for Pochettino.
Midfield
Harry Winks has done exceedingly well during the injury crisis Spurs faced in midfield, and he is expected to keep his place. Mousa Dembele is likely going to be his partner in midfield with other central midfielders out injured.
The attacking onus would be on the likes of Son Heung Min, Christian Eriksen and Moussa Sissoko. Eriksen was a big miss for Spurs, but his comeback should see them create more clear-cut chances in the final third. Lucas Moura started the weekend game so we feel he might be rested for this encounter with South Korean star Son starting in his place.
Forward
Harry Kane is yet to hit top gear, but the Englishman is often seen dropping deep this season and comes out as an option for his midfielders. However, he is still the biggest threat that Pochettino has in front of goal, and the manager would hope that their creative payers can provide enough service for Kane to finish.
