According to a recent report by Calcio Mercato, RB Leipzig are lining up a move for Everton wide man Ademola Lookman. It is believed that the German outfit are monitoring the progress of the talented youngster at Merseyside as he struggles to secure regular first-team opportunities under Marco Silva.
Lookman’s Recent Form
The 21-year-old prospect spent the second half of the last campaign on loan at Leipzig where he found the back of the net five times while grabbing four assists in 11 Bundesliga matches. However, he has not been able to produce the same numbers at Goodison Park this season with the winger often being used as a sporadic option from the bench.
The London-born talent has just featured in five matches for the Toffees during this campaign and has one assist to show for his efforts across all competitions. Lookman is in dire need of more game time if he wants to improve his game and be a top-class winger in the coming years.
So if his situation at Merseyside doesn’t improve soon, then it shouldn’t come as a surprise if a club like Leipzig swoops in to provide him with an escape route out of English football.
What Does The English Sensation Bring To Merseyside?
The Englishman is blessed with moderate pace but is an excellent dribbler with the ball as he looks to take on the opposing defenders at every opportunity to create chances for his teammates in the final third. Lookman is still quite raw and needs to work on his finishing if he wants to score goals regularly at the highest level.
Should The Toffees Sell Lookman?
There is no doubt about his massive potential, but the fact remains that the Everton manager Marco Silva is not confident in Lookman’s ability to feature regularly for the Merseyside giants. Hence another loan move to Leipzig might be the best move for all parties, but the Toffees simply cannot afford to part ways with a player of Lookman’s incredible potential on a permanent basis.
He could still become a future star for the Blues of Merseyside if Silva can manage to get the best out of his talents in the next few years.
