Real Madrid continued their poor run in the La Liga with a disastrous performance against their arch-rivals Barcelona in the El Clasico at Nou Camp. The Galacticos were bogged down from the very first kick of the match, and none of their so-called “superstars” could live up to the expectations of the fans. It was a night of shame for Los Blancos as a Messi-less Barcelona put five past them, with Luis Suarez picking up a hat-trick while Philippe Coutinho and Arturo Vidal joining the party with one goal apiece.
Here is how the Real Madrid players were rated from their disappointing display against Barcelona.
Thibaut Courtois: 4
A night to forget for the Belgian. Made a good save in the end though.
Marcelo: 7
Played his heart out as he does every time. Got a goal back in the second half. Had to leave the field with a hamstring injury.
Sergio Ramos: 3
Disappointing performance from the skipper.
Rafael Varane: 2
Defending at it’s worst. Had to be substituted.
Nacho: 4
Another disappointing performer. Was taken aback by Jordi Alba’s brilliance.
Toni Kroos: 5
Tried to control the tempo of the game but his Barca counterparts proved too good for him.
Casemiro: 5
Can be a long-term solution for Real Madrid in the centre back department rather than in central midfield.
Luka Modric: 4
The FIFA “Player of the Year” was not able to show his magic for his team when it was most needed.
Isco: 6
Made a few good twists and turns and a had a few attempts on goal.
Gareth Bale: 4
Did not show any sign of threatening the Barcelona defence.
Karim Benzema: 5
Tried his best to get a goal back and had a few chances as well. His inaccuracy let him down.
Substitutes
Lucas Vazquez: 7
Looked positive since coming on and made some brilliant runs into the final third. Set up Benzema for with a superb cross but he squandered the chance. Need to be included more often in the starting lineup.
Marco Asensio: 4
Nothing positive from the “promising” youngster.
Mariano: 5
Set up Benzema with an excellent first touch in the dying moments of the match.
