It is no secret that Real Madrid have struggled to hit the heights of last season and have disappointingly begun this campaign after suffering defeats at the hands of Sevilla and Alaves in recent weeks. The Galacticos have looked quite vulnerable at the back, and their front players are yet to fire on all cylinders this season.
Julen Lopetegui needs to use the winter transfer period to address some of his side’s recent concerns if he wants to be successful at the Spanish capital in the long-run. Here are three players that Los Blancos could consider signing when the transfer window reopens in January.
Robert Lewandowski
The Polish frontman is vastly experienced at the highest level and knows what it takes to find the back of the net on a consistent basis. He has proven his worth in European football for a prolonged period which makes him an ideal fit for Los Blancos.
The 30-year-old striker has started this season in majestic form, registering eight goals and one assist in 10 matches for Bayern Munich in all competitions and might be tempted to a new challenge in the Spanish capital.
Christian Pulisic
The 19-year-old Borussia Dortmund star is widely regarded as one of the most exciting young prospects in European football and Madrid would do well to bring him to the Santiago Bernabeu. The United States international is exceptionally talented and has a bright future ahead of him which is exactly the kind of player that the Galacticos are in need of right now, as they look towards building a bigger and brighter future at Madrid.
Pulisic had found the back of the net twice and created one assist in six appearances for Dortmund this season. Despite his underwhelming record so far, he is still quite young and could be nurtured into a future star in world football which is why Julen Lopetegui should consider recruiting him in January.
Kalidou Koulibaly
The Senegalese centre-half has been a rock at the back for Napoli over the past few seasons. He also had a solid 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign with Senegal and had begun this campaign with some commanding performances in defence for Carlo Ancelotti’s team. At 27, Koulibaly is currently playing his best football and could be an immediate solution to Madrid’s defensive woes this season.
