Liverpool have made a solid start to this Premier League season and have managed to stay unbeaten after eight league matches so far. The Reds currently hold the joint-best defensive record in the English top-flight alongside Manchester City and find themselves in the 3rd position with only goal difference separating them from the Citizens and Chelsea at the top of the league table.
Jurgen Klopp has recruited well over the summer which is evident from his side’s resolute performances during this campaign. In a recent interview, the German manager shared his views on breaking the trophy drought and said, “I’m a pretty hard-working person, I’m pretty well paid, so I should work hard actually.
“That’s what I do, I try to find solutions for different problems or situations and that’s how I understand the job.
“The only thing I can do is to put all I have – my knowledge, passion, heart, experience, everything – I throw it into this club, 100 per cent. I don’t keep anything back and it should work actually at one point.
“You have to bring yourself in the best situation that you are able to and use it – that’s what we do. When we win something, this city will explode – I’m sure – in a very positive way.”
There is no doubt that Klopp shares a special bond with the club’s players and supporters, unlike any other we usually witness in football nowadays. The German’s passion to strive for excellence while working hard with his players every day is quite commendable.
No Carabao Cup: No Problem?
The Merseyside club are already out of the League Cup following their 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Pensioners last month. So the Reds have to concentrate on three competitions which would make things a little bit easier for Klopp’s men as they look to cope with the stress of playing matches with minimal rest.
Klopp’s Wretched Record In Cup Finals
A major concern for the Merseyside giants could be Klopp’s dismal record in the finals of major competitions. The German head coach has a poor record in cup finals and his sides have often fallen on the final hurdle which is an unwanted record that Klopp needs to rectify sooner rather than later during his time at Anfield.
Verdict
As long as the Liverpool boss can manage to get the best out of his front players, Liverpool should not have any problems competing for trophies this season. However, the Reds would need some luck and have to push themselves even more if they want to lift some silverware at the end of this season.
