Newcastle United have made a disastrous start to their Premier League campaign after failing to win in any of their eight matches in the league so far. The Magpies currently find themselves in the 19th place of the league standings with just 2 points to their name following another bitter loss against Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend.
Newcastle’s Problems Up Top
The lack of investment in Rafael Benitez’s squad has seen them fall from being a mid-table team to a side in grave danger of being relegated from the English top-flight at the end of this season. Although, the Tyneside giants have shipped in 13 goals in 8 games, yet it is their attack which has been concerning the most. Benitez’s men have just managed to score only six league goals so far with two of them coming in their 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Red Devils on Saturday evening.
Muto’s First Goal In English Football: A Sign Of Things To Come?
However, one positive from their trip to Manchester was Yoshinori Muto’s performance on the day. The Japanese international, who arrived from FSV Mainz earlier this summer, registered his first goal of the season on his first start for the club in the Premier League.
What Does The Japanese International Add To Benitez’s Side?
The 26-year-old has featured in eight matches for the Tyneside club this season with most of his appearances coming from the bench. The Japanese prospect is very quick and can dribble with the ball out of tight areas to create chances for his teammates or take shots at goal himself.
The Newcastle forward is a decent finisher inside the box but needs to work on his shooting from distance if he wants to prove himself in the top tier of England.
Should He Start On A Regular Basis?
Muto has already shown what he can do when given a chance to start in Benitez’s first-team. The least that the Newcastle boss can do is to play him more often in the coming weeks after the international break with the hope that he can turn things around and fire the Magpies out of the bottom three.
