According to a recent report by voetbalprimeur, AFC Ajax midfielder Hakim Ziyech’s agent has ruled out his client’s move to Everton. It is understood that the Toffees were among many clubs who were keeping tabs on the Eredivisie prospect. However, Ziyech’s agent, Rene van der Gijp has shed some light on the player’s future and said, “That would be crazy for that boy, he should not go to Everton,”
The Rapid Rise Of Hakim Ziyech
The Morrocan international grew up playing football at Heerenveen and managed to graduate from their academy successfully. He has featured for the Dutch club’s Under-17 and Under-19 teams before breaking into their senior side in the summer of 2012. Ziyech made a total of 46 appearances for Heerenveen, scoring 13 goals while creating 11 assists in all competitions. His dazzling displays caught the eyes of FC Twente chiefs who sealed a move for him in the summer of 2014.
The 25-year-old was equally impressive for Twente, featuring in 73 matches for the Dutch club while registering 34 goals and grabbing 30 assists. His incredible record at the De Grolsch Veste did not go unnoticed as AFC Ajax approached to sign him in 2016. Since his switch to the Johan Cruff Arena, Ziyech has slowly established himself as one of the premier attacking midfielders in the Eredivisie which is why so many clubs have been lining up to fight it out for his signature.
What Does The Morrocan Bring To The Football Pitch?
Ziyech is an incredible passer of the ball and links up play well in and around the opposing penalty area. He is also known to use his pace to run behind the opposition defence and wreak havoc in the attacking third. The Morrocan talent adds a lot of power to his shots, but his attempts are sometimes wayward.
Ziyech’s Refusal: A Big Blow For The Toffees?
There is no doubt that Ziyech is a fantastic talent but he also needs to develop some core strength if he wants to prove himself in the Premier League. Missing out on someone of the Morrocan’s talents would be a bitter pill to swallow for Marco Silva as Ziyech could have been the missing piece in his Everton jigsaw.
Having said that, the Toffees have an array of midfield prospects such as Bernard, Richarlison, Tom Davies, Gylfi Sigurðsson and Nikola Vlašić competing for a place in Silva’s first-team. Hence, not being able to sign Ziyech might not be a big blow for the Merseyside giants after all!
