According to a recent report by football.london, Tottenham Hotspur are looking to secure the services of PSV Eindhoven winger Hirving Lozano after sending scouts to catch him in action in the UEFA Champions League recently. It is believed that a bid in the region of £25m would be enough to convince the Dutch giants to part ways with their prized asset. However, a whole host of clubs including Spurs are chasing after his signature as PSV brace themselves for multiple offers for the Mexican international next summer.
The Rise Of Hirving Lozano
Lozano grew up playing football for his hometown club, Pachuca. He featured for the club’s Under-20 team before being promoted to play first-team football at the start of 2014. The Mexiko-Stadt born talent had made a total of 120 appearances for Pachuca, scoring 41 goals while creating 28 assists across all competitions. His dazzling performances in Mexico caught the eyes of PSV scouts who sealed a move for his services at the start of 2017.
Since making a switch to Holland, the Mexican winger has become one of the most promising young talents in European football following an impressive 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign with Mexico. Lozano has scored seven goals and grabbed two assists in 12 matches for PSV this season. He also has 33 international caps while playing for his nation and has got eight international goals to his name so far.
What Will The Mexican Forward Add To Pochettino’s Side?
Lozano is incredibly quick and is well-capable of beating defenders in 1v1 situations. He is also a good dribbler with the ball and has a keen eye for a telling pass in the final third. His link-up play is pretty good in the opposition half which makes him a valuable asset for PSV and Mexico going forward. However, the Mexican wonderkid still needs to work on his strength if he wants to prove himself in the Premier League someday.
Is Lozano The Right Fit For Tottenham?
The 23-year-old would be an ideal fit for Spurs as he has a lot of potential and has all the makings of a future star in English football. Mauricio Pochettino likes players with outstanding technical ability, and Lozano certainly fits that bracket. He would be an excellent option for the North Londoners as they look to interchange between him, Heung-min Son, Erik Lamela, Lucas Moura and Dele Alli every week.
Moreover, Lozano is quite useful while playing as a secondary striker up top and could support Harry Kane when the English forward is not firing on all cylinders. Tottenham should consider signing him shortly as he will add a lot of quality to Pochettino’s starting XI and can turn out to be a world-class forward in the coming years.
