Barcelona are reportedly scouting Sporting Lisbon winger Gelson Martins. Gelson is a Sporting Lisbon academy product and made his debut in 2015. His performance this season earned him a call-up to the Portugal national team. The 21-year old has created an impressive six goals for the Portuguese side.
Barcelona sporting director Ariedo Braida confirmed that they have been tracking the winger for the past few days, “The only thing I can say is that we are watching Gelson,’ Braida told Record.”
“He’s a young player with a lot of talent who Barcelona are observing and will continue to observe. We have reports on various players and Gelson is one of them.”
Gelson reportedly has a £52m release clause in his contract and Braida has ruled out of any move in the upcoming transfer window. Manchester United and Real Madrid are also keeping a tab on the player’s progress.
