Everton made a very mediocre start to their campaign after initially starting strongly but eventually falling to some poor results in recent weeks. Marco Silva is still trying to establish his identity and brand of football at the club which takes time. Hence, Everton fans should be patient even though their team got knocked out of the League Cup by Southampton.
The likes of Cenk Tosun and Gylfi Sigurdsson finally found some joy last weekend when the Toffees comfortably beat Fulham 4-0 in front of their home supporters. However, there is still a long way to go and plenty of points to play for in this campaign which is why the Merseyside club needs to continue rebuilding when the transfer window reopens in January.
Here are three players Marco Silva should look to sign in January to strengthen his Everton squad.
Krzysztof Piątek
The Polish forward, dubbed as ‘the new Robert Lewandowski’, has set the Serie A on fire with some of his dazzling performances for Genoa this season. Piątek has scored 12 goals in just seven matches for Genoa across all competitions. He is currently the leading goal-scorer in all five of Europe’s top leagues which makes him an ideal candidate to take up the goal-scoring duties at Goodison Park.
Aaron Ramsey
The Welsh midfielder has a lot of experience of playing in the Premier League and has been an integral member of the Arsenal team over the past few years. However, with his contract at the Emirates Stadium set to run out at the end of this campaign, Everton can try to lure him to Goodison Park in January. That way the Welsh star can reignite his career at Merseyside and become one of the household names in English football once again.
Danny Welbeck
Another Arsenal player who is set to run down his contract at the North London club. The Toffees can offer him regular first-team opportunities under Marco Silva. He has incredible pace going forward and could be a perfect fit for Silva’s Everton side which has struggled to score enough goals this season. The success of Theo Walcott at Goodison Park proves that Everton would suit Welbeck to the T and vice versa which is why the Toffees should conjure up a move in January.
