Barcelona will take on Tottenham Hotspur at the Wembley Stadium on Wednesday night after being held to a 1-1 draw by Athletic Bilbao on Saturday. The Catalans have started off their UEFA Champions League with a commanding 4-0 win over PSV Eindhoven and will now turn their attention on getting a win versus Spurs, to consolidate their position at the top of their UCL group.
Ernesto Valverde will hope to bring back all of his first-team players for this European clash and might opt for a 4-3-3 formation in midweek.
4-3-3 Barcelona Predicted Lineup To Face Tottenham Hotspur
Defence
Marc Andre ter Stegen will start in goal for Barca while Jasper Cillessen has to play second-fiddle to him once again on Valverde’s bench. Samuel Umtiti is a major doubt for this encounter and will be in a race against time to be fit for this match versus Spurs.
The Catalans might line up with their strongest central defensive pairing of Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti so that they can stop Tottenham from scoring on Wednesday night. Clément Lenglet will be on stand-by and could start for Barca if Umtiti fails to recover in time for this midweek clash.
Sergi Roberto is expected to play as the right-back while Jordi Alba could look to use his pace and agility down the left flank.
Midfield
Barcelona could start with the midfield trio of Phillipe Coutinho, Sergio Busquets and Ivan Rakitic after Valverde opted to rest Busquets against Bilbao, which backfired as they were held to a 1-1 draw.
The trio enjoyed a good run of form at the centre of the pitch and would be responsible for retaining possession at the Wembley Stadium. Coutinho got his name on the scoresheet versus Leganes last week and could be a significant threat from midfield.
Attack
Barcelona’s reliable front three of Ousmane Dembele, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi would be expected to get the goals versus the North London outfit and make a difference on Wednesday night. All three forwards have linked up well during this season and would be expected to put on a tireless shift in midweek.
Messi could be a handful for the Tottenham backline after he scored a hattrick on the opening night against PSV Eindhoven.
