West Ham United will host Manchester United at the London Stadium to kick off this Premier League weekend. The Hammers are in a good run of form following their disappointing start to this campaign. Manuel Pellegrini’s men have performed well over the past few weeks which was capped off by a breathtaking display in the League Cup versus Macclesfield Town as the Hammers went wild by winning 8-0 in front of their home supporters.
The victory in midweek would give them a lot of confidence going into this clash so there is an excellent chance that an upset might be on the cards on Saturday afternoon. The Red Devils were knocked out of the League Cup on penalties by Derby County and on top of that, there is a lot of tension between Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba. Things might be slowly falling apart for the visitors so we can expect an even game of football this weekend.
Pellegrini is expected to stick with his favoured 4-1-4-1 formation and might bring back Marko Arnautovic into his starting XI after he missed out on their last two matches due to injury.
4-1-4-1 West Ham United Predicted Lineup To Face Manchester United
Defence
Lukasz Fabianski will return to Pellegrini’s first-team for this weekend’s clash against Manchester United. The Polish goalie was rested in midweek and will come into this game full of confidence after keeping a clean sheet against Chelsea last weekend.
The defensive duo of Fabian Balbuena and Issa Diop might operate in central defence for the Hammers while Pablo Zabaleta would look to use his experience on the right side of the backline. Arthur Masuaku is expected to take up his duties at left-back following an impressive outing versus the Pensioners in the previous gameweek.
Midfield
Declan Rice will operate as a deep-lying, holding midfielder while the duo of Mark Noble and Pedro Obiang could start ahead of him at the centre of the pitch. They would be responsible for breaking down some of the United attacks while also providing adequate support to the front players.
Felipe Anderson would once again play on the left flank while Andriy Yarmolenko should look to cut in from right midfield and take some shots at goal.
Attack
Marko Arnautovic is a significant doubt for this encounter, but the Austrian centre-forward should recover in time to start against the Red Devils. He could be Pellegrini’s biggest weapon going forward on Saturday afternoon.
