Manchester United will take on West Ham United at the London Stadium on Saturday afternoon hoping to bounce back from their midweek defeat at home to Derby County in the League Cup. The Red Devils will have most of their first-team stars back for this clash so we can expect a far better showing than what they produced at Old Trafford on Tuesday night. However, they would come across an in-form West Ham side who thrashed Macclesfield Town 8-0 this week.
Manuel Pellegrini’s men are also unbeaten in their last two league matches and could pose a significant threat to United’s chances of a victory on Saturday. Jose Mourinho is expected to opt for a 4-3-3 formation and would make many changes for this Premier League encounter.
4-3-3 Manchester United Predicted Lineup To Face West Ham United
Defence
David De Gea will retain his spot in goal for the Red Devils after conceding a goal against Wolves last weekend. Sergio Romero is suspended for this clash versus the Hammers following his red card in midweek against Derby County. So Lee Grant would start on the bench and play back-up to the Spaniard.
The central defensive duo of Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling will continue their partnership at the heart of Mourinho’s defence after being rested in midweek while Luke Shaw is expected to start at left-back for this encounter. The club captain, Antonio Valencia might line up ahead of Diogo Dalot and would look to put on a tireless shift in the right side of the defence.
Midfield
Mourinho could opt to start with Nemanja Matic in midfield while Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini might play alongside the Serbian midfielder at the middle of the pitch. The trio would be up against a hard-working Hammers midfield led by Mark Noble so it won’t be easy for the United players to dominate the proceedings on Saturday.
Fellaini scored the equaliser against the Rams in midweek so he would be confident about getting his name on the scoresheet versus Manuel Pellegrini’s team this weekend.
Attack
The Red Devils could line up with a frontline of Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku, and Jesse Lingard. Lukaku’s form has dipped in recent weeks after he scored a flurry of goals earlier this month.
This clash against Wolves could serve as an ideal opportunity for some of United’s underperforming stars to showcase their value to the team and get some confidence back in their play by being productive in the opposition half.
