Rangers seem to be clicking like a cohesive unit as they are coming on the back of two big wins to take on Livingston next in the league encounter. The club has enjoyed some excellent momentum off late, and Steven Gerrard would like to continue that when he travels to Almondvale Stadium.
Midweek cup encounter game might influence some selection for this game, but when the team is winning comfortably, it is relatively easier for the body to recover for the next game. Livingston aren’t doing too poorly themselves as they sit on the fourth spot. However, Rangers would be confident of going past their opponents after enjoying a good run of late.
Team News
Jamie Murphy is out for the season. Ryan Kent had some calf problems last game. Therefore, he could be rested for this game keeping in mind the next Europa League encounter. Jordan Rossiter made an appearance last game after coming back from a long-term injury layoff. Gareth McAuley has still not recovered from his injury and is likely to miss out. Ryan Jack is also suffering from a muscle issue, and it is not yet known whether he would be fit in time for this clash.
Rangers’ Predicted Lineup Vs. Livingston
Formation (4-1-4-1)
Defence
Allan McGregor would be back in goal after he sat out the last encounter. The free agent signing has been a revelation in goal and Gerrard should be delighted with his performance so far. Nikola Katic scored the opening goal last game, but we expect him to make way for Connor Goldson for this clash. Joe Worrall is likely to partner him as he is slowly growing into the centre back role.
Jon Flanagan is likely to be back in the left back role as Borna Barisic won’t be risked for this encounter with the Europa League clash looming. James Tavernier should start in the right-back role after he was rested midweek.
Midfield
Lassana Coulibaly has done exceedingly well ever since coming back from his injury. He should start in a more conservative role in the middle of the park. Scott Arfield and Graham Dorrans should be his other partners in central midfield. Dorrans has looked sharp, and we believe he should be given another start after the midweek clash.
Eros Grezda has made some cameos here and there and is more of a right-winger. But to gain more game time, Gerrard might push him down the left flank. Daniel Candeias should start from the right as he wasn’t involved in the midweek cup game.
Forward
Morelos once again got his mandatory goal, and the Colombian should start as he is in excellent goalscoring form. He can be substituted around the hour mark to give him a bit of a breather ahead of the Europa League clash.
