Barcelona will face off against Girona at the Nou Camp on Sunday evening hoping to maintain their 100% winning start to his La Liga campaign. The Catalans have made a terrific start to this season and are expected to overcome Girona’s challenge this weekend with ease. On paper, Barca have got too much firepower up top which could mean that we might witness a one-sided contest at Catalunya.
However, football is not played on paper so we can expect the unexpected in what looks set to be another round of exciting La Liga matches this weekend. Ernesto Valverde will stick with his favoured 4-3-3 formation and might name an unchanged team for this clash.
4-3-3 Barcelona Predicted Lineup To Face Girona
Defence
Marc Andre ter Stegen will resume his responsibilities in goal for the Catalans while Jasper Cillessen would have to play back up to him once again and await his opportunity in Valverde’s bench.
Barca could opt to continue with the central defensive pairing of Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti to keep things stable at the back against Girona this weekend. Sergi Roberto will operate as the right-back while Jordi Alba would look to use his speed down the left side of Valverde’s backline.
Midfield
The Barca boss might decide to retain Phillipe Coutinho for this contest after the Brazilian put on an excellent display versus PSV Eindhoven in midweek. Sergio Busquets and Ivan Rakitic could be deployed alongside him at the centre of the park.
The trio would be expected to dominate the midfield and retain possession for the home team at the Nou Camp. It’s high time that one of Valverde’s midfielders got in on the goal-scoring act and this match against Girona would serve as an ideal opportunity for one of them to do so.
Attack
Barcelona’s magnificent front three of Ousmane Dembele, Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi should have enough firepower to get the goals on Sunday. All three forwards are in a rich vein of form. However, Suarez failed to register a goal against PSV in midweek. However, Messi is in red-hot form after scoring a hattrick in midweek. The Barca trio has the ability to win this match on their own if they are allowed time and space in the final third.
Malcom will start on the Barca bench and might come on during the match to make an impact.
