Liverpool will entertain Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield tomorrow as they finally kick things off in the UEFA Champions League. The Reds managed to reach the final of last year’s competition and would be determined to win the whole thing this time around. However, they have been dealt a tough group with PSG, Napoli and Red Star Belgrade all capable of troubling the Merseyside club.
Jurgen Klopp will hope that Roberto Firmino recovers in time for this encounter. If he does, then we can expect the German manager to opt for a 4-3-3 formation and name an unchanged side for this contest.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face Paris Saint-Germain
Alisson Becker should retain his place in the Reds first XI following a string of solid performances over the past few weeks. Simon Mignolet would have to settle for the bench and await his chance in the UEFA Champions League.
The Brazilian keeper has conceded one goal in each of his last two appearances so he should be fairly confident about keeping it tidy at the back despite his error against Leicester City earlier this month.
The centre-half partnership between Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez has worked wonders for the Merseyside giants so far so we can expect them to line up and put on another commanding display against PSG at Anfield. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson will operate as the full-backs on either side of Klopp’s backline and would look to use their pace to link up with the forwards in the opposition half.
Dejan Lovren is still nursing his way back to full fitness and is likely to miss out which means that Joel Matip would get a spot on Klopp’s bench on Tuesday night.
Midfield
The midfield combination of Naby Keita, James Milner, and Georginio Wijnaldum worked well against Tottenham Hotspur which could mean that Klopp might stick with them as long as Liverpool keeps winning. Both Milner and Wijnaldum have been in a rich vein of form, and now, it would be up to Keita to prove his worth against PSG in midweek.
Attack
Liverpool would be sweating on the condition of Roberto Firmino after the Brazilian sustained a nasty eye injury against Spurs last weekend. The early reports have been encouraging, so he could recover in time for this European clash. However, Daniel Sturridge will be on stand-by just in case Firmino misses out on Tuesday.
Both Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are guaranteed starters and would look to get behind the PSG defence and wreak havoc. Xherdan Shaqiri will be part of Klopp’s bench and might come on to play an integral role during the game if needed.
