Leeds United finally broke their hoodoo at the Den as they managed a last-gasp draw against Millwall this season. Jack Harrison scored a low piledriver from outside of the box in the 89th minute, which gave them a point from this trip. This is the first point and the first goal which the Whites have scored at Millwall’s home ground since 2012. They would be glad that they still have their unbeaten run intact.
The game was far from a perfect one for the Whites as Millwall started off with high energy and pressed United’s defence into making mistakes while playing from the back. Both teams lacked the cutting edge at times in the final third, but a draw is just about a fair result for both the sides
Here is how Marcelo Bielsa’s men fared against the Lions.
Bailey Peacock Farell 6
Couldn’t have done much for the goal he conceded. Did his duty well whenever he was called upon. Made one smart save from a powerful header.
Pontus Jansson 5
Was aerially dominant and won a good number of headers. While on the ball, he had some nervy moments as he was close to giving the ball away cheaply in dangerous positions. Luckily wasn’t punished on the afternoon.
Liam Cooper 6
Steve Morison and Lee Gregory were often deprived of any breathing space, and a lot of credit for that goes to the captain. Looked assured while he was on the ball.
Kalvin Phillips 6
Played at the heart of the defence as Bielsa went in with a 3-4-3 system. Often the other defenders turned the ball to him to distribute and initiate attacks. Was able to hold his own in a slightly new role.
Luke Ayling 6
The Lions pressed with intensity, and Ayling often had to drop deep to rescue his side. Missed a glorious chance around the hour mark as Ben Amos saved his effort from a close range.
Barry Douglas 5
Did what he usually does and was tireless in his approach. However, his crossing was wayward in this game and was also caught out of position sometimes.
Mateusz Klich 5
Didn’t have much impact but was steady in his performance. Was substituted around the hour mark.
Samuel Saiz 7.5
Even though Harrison got the goal, Saiz would be our Man of the Match as he looked ever so threatening throughout the game. His direct running style caused a lot of problems to Millwall defenders. Just that killer instinct was lacking to finish the moves, but nevertheless, the Spaniard was the driving force for his side while going forward.
Jack Harrison 6.5
Didn’t have much impact on the game until he smashed a low shot from outside the box which sailed past the diving Amos in the 89th minute. The Whites faithful will be glad that their unbeaten streak was not broken.
Ezgjan Alioski 4
Had a poor game as he often drifted offside from the left. His crossing was also wayward, and he needs to pick his game up.
Tyler Roberts 5
Had his moments but fluffed his line far too often. Got into right positions quite a few times but lacked the killer instinct in front of goal. Roofe was missed today.
Substitutes
Lewis Baker 5
Came on for Klich but didn’t have much impact. Skied the ball when he got an excellent chance to shoot from a decent position.
Stuart Dallas 5
Coming back from injury, he did a decent job playing down the right as Harrison moved into a more central position.
Adam Forshaw 6
Like Dallas, Forshaw is also coming back from an injury and slowly will be looking to get few minutes under his belt. Did a fine job in midfield for the time he was on.
