Manchester City would entertain Fulham at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday hoping to keep up the pressure on their title rivals at the top of the Premier League standings. The Citizens would come up against an in-form Fulham side who have been quite productive going forward under the stewardship of Slaviša Jokanović.
On paper, City should have too much firepower up top to win this contest but football is not played on paper so we can expect an exciting clash at Manchester with two teams looking to play some open, expansive game of football this weekend.
Pep Guardiola might revert back to a 3-5-2 formation in order to accommodate both Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero in his first-team. Raheem Sterling is a significant doubt for the game and would be in a race against time to fit for this encounter.
3-5-2 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face Fulham
Defence
Ederson is expected to resume his duties for the Citizens while the youngster, Arijanet Muric awaits his chance on the bench. The defensive trio of Aymeric Laporte, Vincent Kompany, and John Stones would lineup as part of Pep Guardiola’s back three.
City have kept just one clean sheet in four league matches so far this season which is why their defenders would look to keep things stable at the back against the Cottagers on Saturday afternoon. The back three would come up against Aleksandar Mitrović, who is one of the most in-form strikers in the Premier League. The Serbian has scored three goals in his last two league starts so it would be quite tricky for Guardiola’s defence to stop his threat in this coming gameweek.
Midfield
David Silva, Fernandinho and Bernardo Silva might play at the centre of the park with the Brazilian acting in a holding midfield role while the other two looks to create chances for their teammates in the opposition half. Benjamin Mendy would operate as the left wing-back while Kyle Walker puts in a tireless shift on the right-hand side of the midfield.
Walker scored the winning goal against Newcastle United earlier this month so he would go into this clash full of confidence and might play a major part once again going forward.
Attack
Guardiola could opt to start with the striking duo of Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero up top. The South Amercian combination worked well for City when they completely dismantled the Huddersfield Town defence last month so we can expect another strong showing from both of these forwards when they lace up to face off against their London opponents this weekend.
