Manchester United will go head to head with Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday evening hoping to pick up their second away win of this season. The Red Devils returned to winning ways before the international break when they beat Burnley with a 2-0 scoreline. However, things won’t be that easy for Jose Mourinho’s men this weekend as they would come up against a dangerous Watford team, who have won all four of their league matches this season.
The Special One is expected to continue with his favoured 4-3-3 formation and might opt to start with Juan Mata in place of Nemanja Matic so that United have more creativity in midfield.
4-3-3 Manchester United Predicted Lineup To Face Watford
Defence
David De Gea would start for the Red Devils while the youngster Lee Grant should take up a place on the bench in the absence of Sergio Romero. The Spanish shot-stopper managed to keep his first clean sheet of this season when United were able to stop Burnley from scoring earlier this month. However, it could be a much tougher outing for De Gea on Saturday evening when he faces off against one of the most in-form attacks in the Premier League.
Both Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling are expected to continue as Mourinho’s first choice centre-backs. They would be up against the duo of Andre Gray and Troy Deeney, so it won’t be an easy task for the Man United centre-backs to neutralise the threat of the Watford forwards.
Luke Shaw is a significant doubt and would be in a race against time to be fit for this clash after suffering a concussion while on international duty with the English national team. The club captain Antonio Valencia will operate as the right-back and would look to use his pace to be a threat in the opposition half.
Midfield
Marouane Fellaini got a rare start in midfield against Burnley and put on an impressive display during that encounter at Turf Moor. Mourinho could reward him with another start this weekend alongside Paul Pogba and Juan Mata at the centre of the pitch. The trio would be tasked with winning the 50-50 battles in midfield so that the away side can dominate proceedings at Vicarage Road this weekend.
Attack
The trio of Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku, and Jesse Lingard is expected to continue as part of the Red Devils front line. Both Sanchez and Lingard are experiencing a dry spell in front of goal, but Lukaku managed to find his goal-scoring touch when he scored twice against the Clarets in the previous gameweek.
This match against the Hornets could serve as a perfect opportunity for them to get their confidence back by being productive in the opposition half. Anthony Martial could be available on the United bench but Marcus Rashford will be suspended for this contest.
