Tottenham Hotspur will return to the Wembley Stadium to play hosts to Liverpool on Saturday hoping to bounce back from their disappointing defeat at the hands of Watford at Vicarage Road. Spurs are in need of returning to winning ways if they are to keep up the pace with their competitors at the top of the Premier League standings.
However, the Reds would not be any push-overs and would come into this clash in red-hot form following four successive wins in the league. Jurgen Klopp’s team are once again expected to secure a victory this weekend to prove their title credentials.

Defence
Michel Vorm would operate as the goalkeeper once again in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting XI as the club captain Hugo Lloris is still out injured. The Belgian defensive duo of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen is expected to resume their duties in central defence while Kieran Trippier could ply his trade in the right-back position. Ben Davies should get the nod ahead of Danny Rose to play on the left-hand side of the back four.
The Spurs defence struggled to cope with the threat of the Watford attackers in the previous gameweek and would need to put in a much stronger performance if they want to stop Liverpool from scoring. The Tottenham backline will be up against one of the deadliest trios in European football comprised of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah so it won’t be easy for them to keep the Reds attackers quiet on the day.
Midfield
Pochettino might opt for the midfield duo of Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele to operate as the holding midfielders. The Hornets attackers stretched them quite well during Spurs’ last league outing so we can expect Jurgen Klopp’s side to opt for a similar strategy which they need to be wary of in this game.
The in-form trio of Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Lucas Moura should be deployed ahead of them as part of the Tottenham midfield. Moura has been in sensational form for Tottenham and has been banging in the goals of late so we can anticipate the Brazilian talent to be a significant threat for the away side on Saturday.
Attack
Harry Kane has looked tired and jaded in recent weeks, but he should still keep his place in Pochettino’s first-team. He has scored two goals in four matches for the North London outfit so far but is not playing at his peak level. A lot of Spurs supporters would expect the English frontman to register his name on the scoresheet if the home team are to come away with a positive result from this weekend.
